Swedish candystore, Sockerbit, celebrates its candy culture with NYC by bringing back the childlike spirit of creating your own bag of candy. As part of the Scandinavian culture, kids were allowed to indulge in a weekend treat with their selection of smågodis (‘little candies’). These weekend indulgences were referred to
as lördagsgodis, meaning Saturday sweets.
Sockerbit brings out the child in everyone while placing the candies as a focal point in the store interior.
The starck white interior serves as a canvas for the colorful variety of Swedish candies displayed
along the shelves.
The name, Sockerbit, meaning ‘sugar cube,’ coupled with the supporting name/tagline, ‘Sweet & Swedish' ,
helps distinguish the candy store brand as being a Swedish/Scandinavian brand;
the look and feel of the retail space is very particular to their respective cultural values.
The use of the alliteration in ‘Sweet & Swedish,’ gives the brand a memorable persona that not only brands the candy store itself, but serves as a representation to the sweet and welcoming attributes
of Scandinavian culture.
