Just tucked under the lobby floor of the Whitney Museum of American Art, is restaurateur Danny Meyer’s cafe and restaurant, Untitled. As the name implies, the cafe/restaurant is undoubtedly one of many Meyer’s ‘artworks’ in his collection of restaurants across New York City, such as Shake Shack, The Modern at the MoMA and Blue Smoke, just to name a few.
Untitled extends the museum gallery experience into the coffee break and dining portion of the visit. The naming almost presents the pastries and dishes such as the bagel and lox, the kale salad, the skinny chicken breast or the flank steak, as pieces of an Untitled art collection that is more or less open for interpretation by those who appreciate art in a more palatable form.
